Botulism treatment

Botulism can lead to dying resulting from respiratory failure. However, prior to now 50 years, the proportion of sufferers with botulism who die has fallen from about 50% to 8% as a result of improved supportive care. A patient with severe botulism could require a respiration machine as well as intensive medical and nursing care for a number of months.
