The rabies virus is the kind species of the Lyssavirus genus, in the household Rhabdoviridae, order Mononegavirales. Lyssaviruses have helical symmetry, with a length of about a hundred and eighty nm and a cross-sectional diameter of about seventy five nm. These viruses are enveloped and have a single stranded RNA genome with unfavorable-sense.
